Bamboo Rafting, Turtle Sanctuary, Rainbow Waterfall & more

Day 14 - Saturday

We had a lot to do today so we left the villa early at around 8:30am and drove to the bamboo rafting place.

Sadly, my SD card ran out of space to i had to format it on the go and lost all my photos of the bamboo rafting and turtles. I'll try get some photos of the trip from the others and will upload them as soon as possible.

After the bamboo rafting we went to the turtle sanctuary, however I lost those photos too since I formatted my card just after that.

I did however get photos of the beach nearby, and of the entrance to the turtle sanctuary.

 Beach nearby the turtle sanctuary

Was really good weather and there wasn't too many people there so it was a really nice beach.

Two uni students from Poland came with us on the trip, they came to Thailand because their parents knew Mrs Moik and were relying on her to show them the local Thai attractions.

Water was slightly murky near the shore but was really blue further out

Entrance to Sea Turtle Conservation Centre

The conservation centre held hundreds of turtles, ranging from those just born, to much older turtles. They even had a sick bay for injured and sick turtles.

After the beach we drove to another beach near Khao Lak, White Sand beach. It's a really nice beach, and it's very tourist oriented since theres a number of resorts in the same area.

There were more tourists at this beach than at the one near the villa, probably because Khao Lak is more of a tourist city and has more attractions than the one near the villa.

After walking around the beach for a while, we drove out to the Rainbow Waterfall.

It was a small tourist attraction and the waterfall itself was smaller than I expected it to be.

You can rent a taxi to and from the waterfall.

There was a short scenic walk up to the waterfall, took us about 3 min.

Water was surprisingly cold but we got used to it pretty easily.

Waterfall had a small swimming area, wasn't too big either

After swimming at the waterfall we went back to the villa to rest, before going to dinner at a local grilling restaurant.

We had spare time so we swam, ate and slept.

Janya cooked noodles for our lunch

We left for dinner around early 6pm but we stopped by a nearby beach first.

Driving to the beach

This beach was another tourist attraction but there weren't that many people because it wasn't tourist season, so the restaurants and bars in the area were still closed.

We stayed a while to watch the sunset before leaving to the grilling restaurant.

Leaving

At the restaurant, they basically supplied a small charcoal grill which you could either grill or boil your meat, vegetables or noodles.

Meat goes on top, and noodles, vegetables etc goes on the sides

After eating our fill at the restaurant we drove back home and slept early to prepare for tomorrows journey to the temples.
